#15MinutesToThrive
The 15:09 Sunrise Challenge.
New Global research finds people now report spending 86% of their waking day not moving, as our increasingly comfortable and convenient habitats quietly design movement out of everyday life.
Stand a chance to win one of 5x R1000 cash prizes (Sponsored by Couch Potato Run Club) and a special something from ASICS.
“I don’t have time” doesn’t hold up. Not for me. Not for you.
I recently checked my screen time. 8 hours and 11 minutes a day across my phone and mac.
15 minutes and 9 seconds is 3% of my screen time and about 1% of my day. If I can find it, you can find it. So I’m giving us all a reason to go and get it, every morning, at sunrise.
THE RESEARCH
We’re born to move. We just stopped.
This challenge is my part of the ASICS Movement Conservation Project and the #15MinutesToThrive campaign. ASICS’ global research found:
86%
of our waking day is spent not moving
53%
of people worldwide are At Risk or Endangered
23%
are Endangered: less than 30 min of exercise a week
BUT just 15 minutes of movement can lift your mental state.

HOW IT WORKS
Move for 15 Minutes and 9 Seconds every day for 21 days
Run or Walk
Your pace, your route, your city. Hiking counts. Nobody cares how fast, just that you moved.
At Least 15:09
One continuous activity of 15 minutes and 9 seconds or longer. 15:08 doesn’t count. Two short activities can’t be combined.
Start by Sunrise
Start as early as you like after midnight. Runkeeper’s recorded start time is final. One second late doesn’t count.
The Rules
Daily minimum. One continuous run or walk of at least 15 minutes and 9 seconds, every day from Sunday 11 October to Saturday 31 October 2026. Activities of 15:08 or less do not count. Two shorter activities cannot be combined.
Start time. our activity must start no later than 5 minutes after the official sunrise time for your province, as listed in the highlights on the Instagram account @danionthetrails. See HERE > The start time recorded by Runkeeper is final. One second late does not count.
Province. Use the sunrise time for the province you are physically in when you do the activity. Do not use Google to find your sunrise time.
Tracking. Record every activity live on the ASICS Runkeeper app and sync it by 23:59 the same day.
GPS only. Outdoor activities must be GPS-tracked. No manual, imported or edited activities. You don’t need a smartwatch; the Runkeeper app on your phone is enough.
Treadmills. Count only with a heart rate monitor connected and HR data visible on the activity.
Running or walking only. Activities on a bike, in a vehicle, or at speeds not humanly possible on foot are rejected.
Public profile. Your Runkeeper profile must stay public until 10 November 2026, when winners are announced. If I can’t see it, it doesn’t count.
No missed days. Miss one day, for any reason, and you’re out of the draw. No exceptions for illness, travel, weather or tech problems.
