NOBODY GETS LEFT BEHIND

THE RUN CLUB FOR PEOPLE WHO HATE RUNNING.

Couch Potato Run Club takes you from the actual couch – the one where “next week” has been living rent free for about three years – to running 5k. Slowly. In a group where slow isn’t tolerated, it’s the whole point.

BEFORE WE START

LET’S BE HONEST ABOUT WHY YOU’RE HERE.

You don’t actually want to run. I get it – most days I have to talk myself into it too, and I do this for a living. (This is Dani typing this BTW.) You want to feel less stuck. You want a reason to leave the house that isn’t work or errands. You want to be a bit fitter without turning into one of those people who won’t stop talking about their running.

But the running itself? The gasping, the being seen being bad at it, the fear of holding everyone up? No thanks.

SAME. THAT’S LITERALLY WHY THIS CLUB EXISTS.

Couch Potato Run Club is a beginner first running community. We started in Cape Town in May 2024, and we’ve since supported 5,000+ runners across 30+ locations.

YOU WILL NEVER BE THE SLOWEST

WE HAVE A STRICT NO DROP POLICY.

The real reason most people never start has absolutely nothing to do with fitness. It’s the fear of being the unfit one at the back, red in the face, holding everyone up while the group waits and pretends they don’t mind. We deleted that fear. It’s the founding promise of this whole thing.

No drop policy. No back of the pack to be embarrassed at.

Nobody left behind, ever – someone’s always with you, whatever your pace.

You can’t be the slow one when nobody’s racing off ahead.

You show up in whatever you own. We take it from there.

OUR TEAM

THE HUMANS BEHIND OUR CLUB.

A community this size doesn’t run itself. Behind the scenes, a small team keeps everything working – the WhatsApp groups, the messages, the hundreds of little things you’d only notice if they stopped. These are the humans who make Couch Potato Run Club feel like Couch Potato Run Club.

Dani

Founder & Director

All Dani wants to do is help people feel more confident and at home in their own bodies. She started the club because she’s seen how powerful running can be, and she’s genuinely obsessed with what happens to people when they realise they’re capable of more than they thought.

Tammy

Marketing & Administrative Assistant

“the person who keeps the whole thing from falling over.” She’s behind about a hundred small things you’ll never see but would absolutely notice if they stopped. She’s also, for the record, one of the most passionate, bubbly, kind hearted humans we’ve ever met.

HOW IT WORKS

WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENS?

This club is for the person who reads “beginner friendly” everywhere and assumes it doesn’t mean this beginner. The person who’s been meaning to start since January. Some January. Any January.

Show Up

You find your nearest group and show up. That’s the hard part – and it’s just… showing up.

Run-Walk

We run-walk. Nobody’s expected to run the whole way. Not week one, not until you’re ready.

Couch to 5km

Over about 8 weeks, “I can’t run to the end of the road” becomes “I just ran 5k.” We don’t rush it.

Strict No-Drop Policy

Someone stays with you the entire time. Every time. That’s the no-drop promise.

I loved every minute of this experience and will be signing up again! The benefit of having a group to meet up with twice a week was hugely motivating, and achieving that little bit more each run has been so satisfying. Caitlin has been an incredible coach. Very glad to have found this program and community.

Joined the La Lucia group coached by Zolile in May/June. I was nervous about joining a running programme but Zolile was wonderful: very encouraging and gave us helpful insights. True to their word, no one is left behind and every pace is welcome. Would definitely recommend CPRC!

I thought I was signing up for a running programme. What I actually got was a bunch of people who genuinely did not care how slow I was, only that I kept showing up. There’s always someone hanging back with you. Nobody’s ever left behind. I couldn’t walk upstairs without huffing and puffing when I first started 🤣 Last week I did my first 5k without stopping. I actually can’t believe I did that. Just sign up. You won’t regret

I never imagined I’d be able to run 5 km without stopping. Before joining Couch Potato 5K Run Club, I had never run in my life and wasn’t physically active at all. The programme was easy to follow, well structured, and built my fitness gradually, making each week feel achievable. What really made the experience special was the incredible community. The support, encouragement, and motivation from the running group kept me going, even on the days I doubted myself. I’m so proud of how far I’ve come and would highly recommend this programme to anyone who thinks they’re “not a runner.” If I can go from never running to completing a 5K without walking, anyone can!

The training resulted in exactly what I wanted to achieve. Running my first 5ks. I doubted I would do it but clearly the training is well planned and gets you to where you need to be on the last run. It was well organised and great meeting and walking/running with people who were after the same thing. Would highly recommend joining if you want to start your running programme.
